Bring a Jacket

Terms of use

Last updated 2 October 2026

The short version

Be kind, only share what is yours to share, check a place before you go, and what you add stays yours. It is free, with fair limits and a few ads.

Who we are

Bring a Jacket is made by two small developers in Austria. By creating an account you agree to these terms. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

Age

You need to be 16 or older to use Bring a Jacket.

Your account

One account each, in your own name, linked to one partner at a time. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us at support@bringajacket.app if something looks wrong.

Your content

What you write, record and add stays yours. You let us store it and show it to your partner, which is all we need to run the app, and that permission ends when you delete it or your account.

Only add what you have the right to share, and only share someone else’s photo or voice if they are happy for you to.

Be kind

It is an app for two people who like each other. Do not use it to harass, threaten, stalk or track anyone, to share anything illegal, or to try to get at data or accounts that are not yours. Do not try to break, overload, scrape or copy the app.

Sharing where you are

Sharing your distance or your place on the map is always your choice, off until you turn it on, and can be turned off at any time. Never pressure your partner into turning it on.

Suggested places

Places are found on Google Maps and suggested to you. Their details can be out of date, so check a place is open, suits you and is safe before you go. We do not book anything, and we are not responsible for the places themselves.

AI suggestions

Clue drafts and the lines under suggested places are written by an AI model, Claude by Anthropic, when you ask. They can be wrong. Read them before you use them: a clue you send goes out in your name.

Free, with fair limits

Bring a Jacket is free to use. So it can stay that way, there are limits:

  • AI help: 6 uses per date and 60 a month, for the two of you together. One use is one press, however many clues it writes.
  • Place searches: 6 per date and 15 a month, for the two of you together.
  • Love notes: 3 a day each, text or voice.
  • Stories: 5 a day each.
  • Date photos: 20 per date, for the two of you together.

Ads

While the app is free, a short video ad from Google AdMob may play before a place search. Ads are never personalised. How they use data is in the privacy policy.

If we add paid features, they will be sold through Apple or Google, and you will see the price and the terms before you pay anything. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription; you cancel it in your phone’s subscription settings.

The app

We work to keep the app running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and features may change.

On iPhone, Apple’s standard licence agreement for apps also applies.

Responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Your rights as a consumer are not affected.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or puts the app or other people at risk, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.

Law

These terms are governed by Austrian law. If you live elsewhere in the EU or in the UK, you keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
